When he was still a toddler, I used to bring my son to the village park for our afternoon walks. He loved watching people walking their dogs. He also liked sitting beside the lane where roller skating kids usually pass by. I was not surprised that by the time he was six, he wanted to have roller skates of his own.

Of course, being a mom, I was very worried about accidents. But my husband assured me that he would teach our son how to be a responsible skater. We bought him a pair of roller skates and safety accessories. The first afternoon he got to try them on and take them out for a spin, my little boy obviously enjoyed his new found activity.

When I was ten years old I took a road trip with my family to California to visit family and friends. One memorable event that happened during that vacation was a trip to the airfield with my cousins. It seems my cousins were into RC airplanes. The airfield was an awesome site. There were 20 or so flyers that day.

The RC airplanes I saw that day were composed of old and new planes, choppers and even a flying saucer. The most beautiful plane for me was the Mustang. The yellow, black and silver color of the Mustang was really eye catching. Another favorite of mine was the flying saucer. It was a huge machine probably 3 ft by 3 ft. I didn’t think it could fly. Even in the air it looked unstable.

They say that babies have a brain that works like a sponge. They absorb everything that they see, hear or feel. Their faculties may not be able to process these senses yet but they are foundations on which to build on as they grow older. That is why it is very important to have baby toys around them all the time. More especially educational baby toys.

Baby toys are essential for the development of motor and cognitive skills. Even as a newborn with very limited activities, babies are already hearing and seeing things in their surroundings. Wooden Dollhouses

When I was a little girl, I used to watch my older sister play with wooden dollhouses in the living room. My grandfather had bought them for her as a gift for her birthday. I remember being so jealous that she could play with it and I can’t. My grandfather must’ve noticed how I looked at the dollhouse and promised to buy one for me when I was old enough.

That dollhouse is still there, even after all these years. The wood was incredibly sturdy even if there were some chips and scratches due to wear and tear. The dolls were different than what we used to put in there. They were now ceramic and for display purposes only. We almost sold when we had a garage sale a couple of years ago, but we figured it was something we have to keep to remind us of our grandfather.

When it comes to family games, board games are one of the most popular. These are games that have pieces which placed, removed, or moved on a pre-marked board according to a set of rules. Board games can be based on pure strategy, chance or a mixture of the two. Back in the day, these games represented two armies at battle, and recent board games have retained the concept of beating one’s opponent.

My family and I love board games. Whenever we find the time, we’d sit down and spend the entire afternoon playing one board game after the other. We’d get carried away sometimes and have a little friendly competition, but it’s all in good fun. It’s a great way of spending time with my family, especially since we’ve had our own lives away from our parents.

Early childhood is one of the most important stages in your child’s life. This period, between one and five years of age, is where a child’s body and brain grow and develop rapidly. To put it simply, kids soak up information like a sponge during this period of their lives. Early childhood development lays the foundation for future learning, so it is important that parents pay close attention to the child’s surroundings to ensure proper development.

Playing is one of the activities where children can learn physically and intellectually. Wooden outdoor play structures, for example, can help with developing a child’s motor skills. A child may crawl up and down the structure at first, and then he or she will start walking on it, and then running, and so on. Before you know it, the child could be dangling from one monkey bar to the other.
