RC electric helicopters

October 30th, 2009

Most kids grow up wanting to be a pilot. This dream is often derailed because it has not been nurtured. Pilots usually come from a flying family. Someone in their family is usually a pilot. To nurture the pilot dream, you can start your kid with RC electric helicopters.

Going to an airfield and flying RC electric helicopters is great fun. I remember my first RC trip. My uncle was an enthusiast. He flies a vintage airplane and when I got to the airfield with him, there were at least ten enthusiasts there. There were numerous planes, two helicopters and one flying saucer. Of all the flying machines there, the helicopter impressed me the most.

residential playground equipment

October 28th, 2009

Playing outdoors in the park can be fun and educational for children. They can play with old friends and meet new friends. But if your children play in the park, they will need somebody to watch over them. That is possible once or twice a week but a daily trip to the park can be a drain on your time. Your solution will be to set up a residential playground equipment right on your yard. You can be doing household chores and still have your eyes on them.

You have a wide variety to choose from but the big question is the size of you space and your budget. The type of model that you will choose will also depend on the age and capabilities of your child. If you have very small children, baby swings and bucket swings are available. For older children there are swings and monkey bars, slides and ladders. The important thing when choosing playground equipment is to make sure that they are safe. Look up the manufacturer’s safety record and check if they are willing to make regular safety checks.

Gund bears

October 23rd, 2009

If you love stuffed toys you probably own a few made by Gund. Gund is one of the oldest stuffed animal manufacturers in the U.S. Started in 1898 by a German immigrant it became the standard of quality stuffed toys. They were among the first to design and produce teddy bears around the early 1900s. They have since been responsible for the many innovations in the stuffed toys that we see in stores today.

Gund bears are known for their being soft and huggable. This is because of the manufacturer’s patented technique of under stuffing. Their use of plush materials also adds to the supple quality of their products. What child (or adult) will be able to resist Brighton, an 18 inches tall soft and cuddly white bear with very soft fur and a sheer white dotted bow around his neck? Or the smaller Goober Bear. He is plump and cuddly with brown plush fur and a tan face and tummy.

stuffed animal

Just how many stuffed toys will you allow your child to keep? It is hard to say because manufacturers are always coming out with new ideas in stuffed toys. Your child simply must have the latest stuffed animal. When my daughters were younger, they had adult size beds and yet it was not big enough for the number of stuffed toys that they wanted beside them when they went to sleep. They ended up with just enough space to stretch out. It must have been uncomfortable but they chose that over deserting their friends.

There are many creative ways of finding storage of stuffed toys. Cubbies will look neat but it could occupy a lot of space. Toy chests are practical, just make sure that the child can open and close it without incident. A hammock running across the room is something different. The toys are in full view and the child has easy access. Another idea is to provide the pole in one corner of the room. It can store a lot of the smaller pieces.

wooden puzzles

October 16th, 2009

These toys are so unassuming. They look very simple, just pieces of wood, but wooden puzzles can be frustratingly difficult to solve. Take for example the Locking Cube. Made of 7 separate pieces that are intricately cut, they look like a simple cube when assembled. Getting it apart is only half the battle. What more putting them together again.

Maybe you’d rather try the relatively simple “CCO” puzzle. It is a 3-piece wooden puzzle that got its name from the pieces that make up the assembly. The pieces resemble the letters “C”, “C” and “O.” This puzzle has a relatively easy solution which makes it perfect for beginners. It makes a nice looking decorative piece, too.

baby games

October 15th, 2009

One of the most delightful things to do at the end of the day is to come home and play with your kids. If your child is still a bay there are plenty of baby games which you can do with your child. These baby games help develop their motor skills, enhance their brain activity and help them to identify objects. baby games can range from simple stuffed bears to toy laptops. As your baby grows, your baby’s toys and gadget collection will grow as well.

The first baby games would consist mostly of a stuffed animal and perhaps a rattle. You can use the rattle and the bear to play a game of exploration. Let your baby first discover the feel of his toy. He is learning to use all his senses. After a few weeks you can buy him toys and stuffed animals that “talk” to them. These toys could make a sound when squeezed. This game of learning is fun and educational at the same time.

Get started in powered radio control flying and have fun with your kids every weekend. Go for electric RC airplanes as these are widely available online and in many hobby shops. They are the easiest way to jump on the RC flying craze. The relatively low price tags further make them a big attraction to enthusiasts.

In recent years, ready to fly planes have become the popular choice for beginners. These planes are of excellent value and have enticed a lot of people into the hobby. One feature of electric RC airplanes is the anti-crash technology that takes over and bails the plane out of trouble in case it gets out of control.

Wooden play sets

October 7th, 2009

Outdoor play sets provide venues for a child to stretch his muscles. When he is with friends they will be climbing and sliding or attempting to reach a higher level using ropes or ladders. Wooden play sets will be a boon to growing children. Swing sets bring the most enjoyment to children because of the exhilarating feeling that they get out of swinging in the air. They also learn to give and take as they take turns on the different play areas.

There are two important things to remember about play sets. They should be chosen not only for the variety of play that they offer but also for the level of safety that is provided. The materials used should be smooth and should not cause harm to children in the form of splinters or cuts. The play set should stand strong and sturdy. And the paint used should be non-toxic.

model yacht

October 5th, 2009

We’ve all seen how the rich people live, we see it on TV and read about it in magazines and tabloids. They are often photographed with their houses or their cars or their yachts. Among all their toys, I like the yachts best. Yachts are so cool; you can speed across the ocean without all the traffic. In a recent trip to a museum I saw a model yacht, it was done exactly the way a real yacht looked like.

What amazes me about a model yacht is that how some of them are purely handmade. An artist needs to be precise and apply the right amount of glue to put them all together. Model yachts are always a delight to kids and adults alike. Some model yachts can even be used by kids to play with in tubs, pools and ponds. There are also remote controlled model yachts that can be operated just like a remote controlled car.
