teddy bear monkey

September 25th, 2009

Babies are funny little angels. It’s amazing seeing them grow during the first year. One day he can’t do this and the next day he can. One day he doesn’t like the particular toy and the next day he won’t let go of it. My baby boy did just that with his teddy bear monkey. He hated it and cried when I gave it to him. The next day he started playing with it, even feeding it.

It was the cutest teddy bear monkey I’ve seen. It was a black and brown monkey with long arms and legs. It has a thin coat, very soft and does not collect dust easily. I got it immediately and was dying to give it to my son. I was even giggly and proud of myself for being such a dutiful and loving father. When I gave it to him I was heartbroken because not only did he not want it, he didn’t even want to look at it. I told myself I wasted money. The next day, I was surprised that he started playing with it.

memory bears

September 25th, 2009

I’m not sure how I will feel if I were given a teddy bear made from a departed loved one’s garments. Will I welcome it joyfully, like jumping up and down joyful? Or, will I sit quietly in a corner remembering the times when the loved one was still around. I really am not sure. But if others love memory bears so much it must be doing something good for them.

These custom handmade bears made from fabric worn by a lost relative or friend will keep the memory of the relative or friend alive forever. It could be a grandmother’s favorite shawl or a child’s school uniform. It might even be a pet’s old blanket. But memory bears are not just to commemorate the dead. It can also be a reminder of one’s childhood. Thus, a mother might want to have a bear made out of outgrown infant clothes. It will be something that the child will love to have when he is all grown up.

quad roller skates

September 17th, 2009

Modernization has changed so many things – even the way children play. Most kids are now hooked on video games thus lessening physical activities and interaction. Parents these days are challenged as how they could introduce fun away from the computer games because gone are the days of the popular street games. Engaging with activities using quad roller skates will surely entice kids to go outside and sweat it out.

Quad roller skates consist of boots with four wheels with four bearings arranged as that of a car. There are various types of quad roller skates:~Metal Strap-on – metal plate with leather straps to bind them over shoes~Plastic Strap-on – they look like toys often with cartoon character on the front~Artistic Roller skates – high cuff around the ankle; with balance points for dance moves~Speed Skating Quads – with very low cut just above the ankle like regular sneakers and good for long-distance skates~Sneaker skates – called “jogger skates” which is good for fitness skating~Hockey quad skates – hockey boots mounted on quad plates~Aggressive Quad Skates – wider for greater stability and grinding moves with grinding block attached at the bottom for sliding along cubs and rails~Quad Skates of Jumping Tricks – basketball shoes mounted on plates with aluminum sole plate between them for a stiffer bottom that would provide better control and stability~All Terrain Quad Skates – “mountain skate” with tractor style wheels (4″ in diameter)

educational toys

September 16th, 2009

It is also important for children to be able to properly express themselves. Reading will be the best way to achieve this. But not all children enjoy reading. They find it eating too much time that they would rather spend playing. Some games and educational toys will be able to help them achieve a mastery of words. A puppet theater, for example, will show off their creativity while practicing their story telling abilities.

What is important is that the games that we choose for our children should be right for their age. There are board games available for all ages. The good thing about these board games is that they can be patterned for the particular age while teaching them varied subjects. It can be a board game about animals, nature or geography. It will never bore them if subjects are always changing and the subject matter is progressing according to his age.

guitar for kids

September 10th, 2009

Playing the guitar will give children a different kind of satisfaction. While it can be frustrating to the beginner, constant practice will make him master it and provide a sense of achievement. Starting them early will make them love to play and carry the habit into adulthood. This means that they will be able to develop a wider repertoire as they grow older and then maybe they will want to move on to other musical instruments. In this way they will have a better understanding of music.

The guitar is a great choice for a first instrument to learn. It is easy to carry around and it can play just about any kind of music. Choosing a guitar for kids can be a bit tricky. It is very important that you get him one that is just right for his size. It might also be necessary to start with nylon strings rather than steel strings to protect the kid’s soft fingers.

educational toys

September 8th, 2009

Being a mother who grew up in the 70s and 80s, I am often amazed at all the choices kids have these days. There are educational toys, hi tech toys, interactive toys and video games. There are also hundreds of books that entertain, amuse and educate kids. The old fashioned stuffed animals are given a new twist. They now talk, back, shake, sing and even light up.

I prefer educational toys for my son. I believe in learning while having fun. There are hundreds of educational toys. There are the traditional flash cards and the pop-up books that teach kids all about letters, sounds, numbers and others. There are also laptop like toys that have buttons which teach kids the sounds of letters and animals. It is safe to say that in today’s modern world, educational toys are mostly the interactive toys.

Christian puzzles

September 4th, 2009

Children have lots of choices nowadays when it comes to toys. Unfortunately, not all these playthings encourage good development. Some even become bad influences that may harm children’s behaviors.

Start your child right on the way to learning. Give him developmentally-appropriate toys such as Christian puzzles and games. Integrate these in fun ways when teaching him stories from the Bible and encouraging good behavior. Buy Christian puzzles with easy-to-handle pieces that are just the right size for tiny hands and fingers.

wooden toy trucks

September 4th, 2009

There is a certain feel and warmth when children’s toys are made of wood. Wooden toys seem to be a better choice than their plastic counterparts. Not only do they offer a different kind of feel; they are more durable, too. This is the reason why wooden toys are still around after years of being available to children of all ages. And toys that are made of wood have evolved from simple blocks to more modern designs.

Manufacturers have come up with functional toys like the wooden baby walker that has a container for assorted shapes and color blocks. It helps the baby in learning how to walk. It also introduces him to the rudiments of shape and color. Another kind of modern toy is these beautiful sturdy miniature wooden toy trucks. The two front doors open and close and the rear trunk hatch opens and the wheels freely rotate. Children will find this a fun toy and will spend hours playing with it.

skateboard wheels

September 3rd, 2009

Do you love to skateboard a lot? Make sure your wheels accessories are of best qualities. Check first and foremost your skateboard wheels if they are in proper condition. Whether you are skateboarding on the streets or the ramps, make sure the quality features are present in your skateboard’s most essential parts. There is a great selection of wheels you can choose from. Just study them thoroughly so as not to encounter problems later on in your game, be it serious or leisure.

Skateboard wheels come in a variety of styles. When buying wheels, there are two things to consider. Larger wheels are usually faster particularly in ramps, while smaller wheels are designed for the streets. With this in mind you will be able to determine which one you will need for your skateboard. For first-time skateboard wheels buyers, you should know that these accessories are normally sold in sets of four.
