Wooden play sets

June 30th, 2009

Challenge your toddler who still has relatively undeveloped coordination skills. Provide him with wooden play sets like a four piece puzzle with easy to fit edges. When you choose quality children’s wooden puzzles and toys, you are not only encouraging creativity and fine motor development. You are also taking a step towards keeping your child’s environment toxic free and safe.

Wooden play sets are safe alternatives that protect kids from harmful toxic chemicals. These potentially dangerous substances often leach from toys with artificial materials when children chew or suck on them. And since it’s pretty much impossible to keep toys out of little kids’ mouths, parents should simply make safe and non-toxic choices.

wood puzzles

June 26th, 2009

I love games that work your minds. When I was in high school, I was addicted to crossword puzzles. After a couple of years of crosswords, I tried the Rubik’s cube and Sudoku. Now, I’m into wood puzzles. I think all the puzzles I’m doing has kept my mind sharp. I can calculate faster now than when I was in high school or college.

The only downside about brain teaser puzzles is that they are very addictive. Sometimes, I sleep in the wee hours of the night because I still finishing one. I love wood puzzles now because after you’re done solving them you can put it on your mantle and display it. It looks so cool. My collection of wood puzzles right now stands at 17 pieces.

stuffed animal

June 26th, 2009

When I was pregnant with my son, I went on a shopping spree for his nursery. I bought bottles, cribs, beddings, clothes, diapers, and a sterilizer. I did not want to buy toys at first because I figured he wouldn’t need it yet till much later. As soon as my son turned three months, he was already playing with the toys that hung in his crib. Now that he is a rambunctious one year old, he has outgrown all his baby toys and is now more interested in baby books, interactive toys and stuffed animals.

When I started buying him baby books, I discovered that they mostly had animal characters in them. All his board books featured animals. Whenever I read them I would point to the animals and make their sounds. I later realized that if I had stuffed animals, my son could recognize the animals faster. My son is able to touch and see how a stuffed dog, rabbit, dinosaur, and kangaroo actually looks like from all angles.

street gliders

June 24th, 2009

Enjoy warm summer nights by shooing the whole family outside to take advantage of the nice weather. Put on flashing wheels on your street gliders and skates. They are a must-have for children and adults who love zipping around the neighborhood at night. These will bring endless fun to everyone.

As with any outdoor equipment, make sure that all are wearing proper safety gear. Invest in good helmets, knee pads, elbow pads and other safety accessories. Orient kids too on precautionary measures to avoid preventable accidents. Tell them to keep to the sidewalks, never to skate in middle of the street and slow down when turning in street corners.

discount kids guitars

June 16th, 2009

One of the great things about buying online is that you are able to browse many stores without tiring yourself out. You can easily look at special offers that may save you money with just a few clicks of your mouse. For instance, you can search for discount kids guitars and compare prices first before deciding to buy. Not only do some stores offer their instruments at a lower cost, some even ship items to customers for free.

When played correctly, these discount guitars can still produce good quality sound. And even though children’s guitars are smaller than what some of the world’s greatest musicians play, they come with many of the same features. Most have the same high quality electronics and are made from the same materials as the full sized models.

toddler learning toys

June 16th, 2009

My son just turned one. He is no longer a baby, he’s already a toddler. I now need to buy him more toys. I started buying him books because I wanted him to develop a love for reading. However, I noticed that every time I read to him, he would lie down and just listen. I wanted to see him do more activities so I searched around for some toddler learning toys. I didn’t have to look hard, there were a lot of toddler toys in the stores.

I needed to narrow down what kind of toys I wanted because if I didn’t I’d probably go crazy and spend all my money. I had to list down which toddler learning toys I want. It was not easy at first, I wanted all the toys. I decided to go first with those that focused on teaching my son how to say certain words. It was much easier to shop after that. I chose toys that said words aloud or interactive electronic books that said the words or played some sounds when touched. I wanted my son to start talking and the toddler toys helped me do just that.

playhouses

June 15th, 2009

Kids, most of the time wants to play the real thing. A girl plays mother to her doll, a boy grills barbecue with his griller-toy. Most of the time when they are in group, they play one happy family with parents and kids. So imaginative they are they use a box for their mocked up house and there they play, again, the real thing.

Good thing there are lots of playhouses available already that makes playtime for kids even more exciting. Now, kids are not confined to just one imaginary playhouse as there is a wide range of mini-shelters they can already choose from. There are picnic playhouse, porch playhouse and windmill playhouse, to name a few.

625 piece puzzles

June 15th, 2009

One of the best ways to pass the time is to play jigsaw puzzles. It can be a solitary game for individual enjoyment or a fun activity for the whole family or with friends. In one of our blissful meetings, my friends and I decided to complete 625 piece puzzles. It took us a day and a half to finish because we worked on a puzzle that has small pieces that are double sided. It was quite challenging as we’re not 100% sure if we’re fitting it on the correct side.

We have to constantly check the picture to see if we’re on the right track. After grueling hours in completing it, we joked to have it framed since it took us a long time to finish. Obviously, putting our heads together made the task easier. Since we are 5 in the group, everyone contributed and enjoyed the fun. A new jigsaw puzzle that will make us scratch our heads again is still welcome though.

Aside from their birthday, all children look forward to Christmas with glee. The anticipation and excitement to this day can be accounted to the numerous presents that children expect to receive. Consequently most retail establishments are abounding with toys that range from the classic handguns to digital toys. Since most parents tag along their children on Christmas shopping spree, rearranging of interior designs in malls are normally done.

Usually window displays and additional features inside the malls are re-designed for the comfort of shoppers and children. Some department stores install interactive toys like bubble maker, mini-train tracks, kids puppet stage, and colorful blocks. Santa Claus sitting in a corner for photo opportunities is likely to be found too. And to add more to the festive ambience, kiosks of balloon maker, candies, finger foods, trinkets, are also present. Children are indeed having a grand time enjoying these additional conveniences while mothers are engrossed in their shopping.
