blacklight puppets

January 26th, 2009

Puppets can be referred to as dolls as they are inanimate objects made to represent people or even animals. A puppet is controlled by a puppeteer and used in plays in an ancient form of theatre called puppetry. Puppets are used all over the world basically to entertain people may it be in theater, schools, hospitals or even in the streets in asian countries like China and Vietnam. These objects send out messages to people through their movements often accompanied with the voice of the puppeteer or what we call a ventriloquist or just merely moving with the music. There are different kinds of puppets but what interests me most are the blacklight puppets.

People are raving about these puppets because they have a different effect on the audience. They are captivating as they glow in black lights using special kinds of ultraviolet lights. You can create scenes like being underwater or in space without seeing any hand or the feet of the puppeteer. You cannot even see the stage materials used. It is like the blacklight puppets are floating. It is an amazing form of imagery.

RC boats

January 22nd, 2009

Remember the movie Stuart Little? The part I loved the most in the movie was the boat race along the river. So there were these high-powered RC boats alright, but the Little Family’s boat had extra power — Stuart himself!

Stuart really looked cute manning their little sailboat. I was wishing I could join him as he sailed, but of course I can’t shrink myself. The big bully nearly defeated Stuart by cheating, but Stuart held steady. Seeing that movie made me want to by my own RC boat and put a little toy mouse in it so I could sail along a river too.

F-15 model airplane

January 21st, 2009

I practically grew up beside a military air base and each day, I woke up to the zooming sounds of airplanes flying by. I would watch as pilots did their training exercises and imagined myself flying one of those jets. When it was time to apply though, I found out that I missed the height requirement by a few inches.

For a time after that experience I took living life beside an air base for granted until we moved to another place. Whenever I would visit a museum or a toy store and see an F-15 model airplane, nostalgia would engulf my being and I’d go back to memories of my youth again. It seems like it’s never left me.
