How to do the Slide

I may not like the hot weather but that is just what kids are waiting for. It is the best time for them to go for a dip in the pool and soak up the sun. Isn’t it amazing how they can stay in the water for hours and still have the energy for more activities? After the swim, they pick up their longboard and do their thing on the sidewalk. They are just out for a little bit of cruising before trying some tricks.

They might want to do the slide. A slide is when a rider pulls his board out and gets it so the wheels are not gripping the pavement and can be moved freely. This trick is useful when you want to stop very quickly or if you just want to show off a little. The slide can be accomplished in a couple of ways. Toeside is when you put your hands on the pavement in the direction of your toes and spin the board in a clockwise motion. Heelside is when you put your arms behind you spinning in a counter clockwise motion.

Longboard skateboards

January 29th, 2010

This sports equipment is longer and wider than the regular skateboard. Longboard skateboards do not come close to the surfboard in size but longboarding is sometimes referred to as surfing on concrete. They are also less suitable for skateboarding tricks; but the design provides a more fluid motion and momentum. They allow big turns or quick short carves similar to the surfboard. Longboarding, in fact, gained popularity around the time that surfing was gaining ground. They might have been invented by surfers who were just looking for something to do on a day when the waves were a little flat

There are different kinds of longboards and the choice will depend on the intended use. Those who need the longboard as a means of transportation will look for one that is more flexible such as to offer a comfortable ride. Slalom longboards are mostly used for racing. They are shorter than those used for transportation and are made of carbon fiber or other high tech materials. The shorter length allows for easier navigating in tighter courses.

bamboo longboard

January 4th, 2010

Longboarding is the brand new innovation in skateboarding. Like any other skateboard, the longboard has four fiberglass wheels that let you cruise the smooth pavements. However, the longboard is a bit longer and its ground clearance is a bit higher than that of a skateboard. The wheels are also wider.

The longboard is made out of plywood materials around a half inch thick. The board is designed to be flexible so you can maneuver yourself easily. Oftentimes, plywood breaks apart during accidents and when making tricks. Thus, some longboarders switch to the bamboo longboard which is said to be a stronger, durable and yet very flexible alternative. Bamboo, after all, is known to be very strong and is still often used as scaffolding for building constructions in many countries in Asia.

Longboarding is a modern version of skateboarding. A longboard is longer than the standard skateboard, usually measuring 37 inches. They are also equipped with larger, softer wheels which provide a smoother ride. With the longboard it is easier to reach higher speeds. It is also capable of making turns much easier.

There are many ways to ride the longboard. There is carving, slaloming, down hilling, dancing or just cruising around to get to places. Downhill longboards are usually more expensive because the trucks and decks are highly specialized for extreme speeds. Trucks play an important part in how stable the ride is. You need high quality equipment to ensure safety
