How to Make a Little Boy Happy

When he was still a toddler, I used to bring my son to the village park for our afternoon walks. He loved watching people walking their dogs. He also liked sitting beside the lane where roller skating kids usually pass by. I was not surprised that by the time he was six, he wanted to have roller skates of his own.

Of course, being a mom, I was very worried about accidents. But my husband assured me that he would teach our son how to be a responsible skater. We bought him a pair of roller skates and safety accessories. The first afternoon he got to try them on and take them out for a spin, my little boy obviously enjoyed his new found activity.

When I was shopping around for a gift for my 9 year old nephew, getting a pair of skates for him never crossed my mind. But when I saw in a store display a pair of skates with a lighted skate wheel on each skate, I knew I had to get one for him. Looking at these wheels’ spinning lights while in motion is something else. For me, it gave the illusion that the skater was skating on lights! I promptly made the purchase and I was glad I did.

The store I went to gave me the option of personalizing the wheels. I could choose what color I wanted. And I could even put different colors for each wheel! This was a really great touch as I got to pick the colors I think my nephew would like. I liked the skates so much I bought one for myself as well!

Roller skating is such a hit with kids. Aside from the common cruising that is done on pavements, they are also into artistic roller skating. Examples are dancing to music, doing freestyle jumps and spins and creating figures on the pavement. These artistic moves display the kind of control that they have over their roller skates.

Make the fun last longer. Get your kid an adjustable roller skate. These are skates that will follow your kid’s growing foot. Trace your child’s stocking feet and measure the length of the tracing from heel to toe and the widest width across the ball of the foot. These measurements will help you select a skate with the longest possible growth time,

skater bud

Living in New York City can be very exciting. It can also be very tiring and expensive. If you live in New York, you often have to walk a lot. If you don’t like to walk, you can always take the subway or the bus. When I lived in the city for two years, I got my son a skater bud so he wouldn’t complain about all the walking we had to do.

A skater bud is a set of wheels which you can attach to a child’s sneakers. This is sort of a cross between the roller skates back in the 70s and the roller blades of the 90s. Roller skates were bulky and heavy; they were strapped on the bottom of sneakers. Rollerblades are shoes that have blades with tiny wheels in them. With roller skates you can stand straight and not tip over, standing on roller blades is like standing on ice skates.

We see them everywhere – along sidewalks, in the malls and in parks. These are devices worn by children which consist of a pair of boots with four wheels. A roller skate will allow anyone wearing it to roll along on wheels. Roller skates are being worn for entertainment but they also provide some benefits on the side. One is that it provides exercise. Another is that it is a speedier way to get from one place to another compared to walking.

Roller skates can be fun for kids but make sure of certain things when you buy your pair. Fit is very important. A perfectly fitting pair of roller blades will avoid painful blisters. It will also provide the user with better control. The kind of wheel to choose will depend on the surface where it will be used. Different kinds of wheels vary in terms of the speed that they provide. The choice will certainly depend on the age and personality of the child who will use it.

Do you love roller skating? Well, though some say it’s quite a dangerous hobby because of the uncontrollable wheels when riding on them many still love roller skating for a pastime. If you want a pair of safer and more secured roller blades, use the quad roller skate. Aside from looking stylish and cool, these skates usually create an easy-feeling when you wear them. They are also easy to put on by just simply sliding your foot in and clam the clamps down.

skater buds

July 23rd, 2009

It was year 2002 when I stayed in my cousin’s Manhattan apartment for three months. He was away for the summer and allowed me to use his place. He told me to help myself to anything. So one day out of boredom I put on his rollerblades and attempted to skate in Central Park. I took my two nephews with me to the park so we could all enjoy a day out in the sun. As soon as I began rollerblading, I managed to fall, crash into some bushes and nearly fell over an old lady all within a span of 20 minutes. My two nephews who were toddlers back then kept on laughing at me. Just last week, my nephews who have grown to pesky kids showed me their new skater buds.

Skater buds is the latest evolution in roller skates. It is not a shoe with wheels, and it is not heavy and bulky. The straps are adjustable in size so that they can fit your child’s shoe as he or she grows. They also come with colorful wheels which you can remove and replace with lighted skate wheels. Skater buds are ideal for children 8 years old and a who above who do not weigh more than 150 lbs. The child must have a keen sense of balance. Skater buds should always be worn with a helmet, knee and shoulder pads for protection.
