What child doesn’t like puppets? Almost everyone I know, watched or still watches puppet shows. They’re fun and it’s easy to get immersed in the stories. Children love that puppet shows are interactive. I’ve seen firsthand how puppet shows can keep young children mesmerized for hours.
During my short stint as a pre-school teacher, I loved putting together puppet shows for my students. They participate by helping me “write” the story. My favorite puppet accessory was a small wooden guitar. My students would request their favorite nursery songs and often sing along with the puppets. Plus, puppet shows make for great teaching tools as well.

Puppets can be referred to as dolls as they are inanimate objects made to represent people or even animals. A puppet is controlled by a puppeteer and used in plays in an ancient form of theatre called puppetry. Puppets are used all over the world basically to entertain people may it be in theater, schools, hospitals or even in the streets in asian countries like China and Vietnam. These objects send out messages to people through their movements often accompanied with the voice of the puppeteer or what we call a ventriloquist or just merely moving with the music. There are different kinds of puppets but what interests me most are the blacklight puppets.
People are raving about these puppets because they have a different effect on the audience. They are captivating as they glow in black lights using special kinds of ultraviolet lights. You can create scenes like being underwater or in space without seeing any hand or the feet of the puppeteer. You cannot even see the stage materials used. It is like the blacklight puppets are floating. It is an amazing form of imagery.

Tell stories effectively by being more creative. Instead of simply reading from a book, use hand puppets to introduce kids the different characters. Adapt various voices to go with each character. If that’s too difficult for you, assign one hand puppet to become a storyteller. You’re guaranteed to get kids” attention.
Select a puppet that you feel would be appropriate to tell a chosen story. Watch it come to life under your hand. Make him speak, laugh and think. The children will be delighted and so will you.
