Castles in the Sand

I have always loved playing at the beach especially with sand. I remember that I would never forget to bring sand pails. Not just one but several in different shapes and sizes if possible. Then the task of creating the perfect sand castle starts. Having different shapes and sizes of sand pails definitely made the work easier and more enjoyable. Even if I know it is not permanent, I would never forget the joy I felt whenever I created a masterpiece in the sand.

Now that I have kids of my own, I encourage them to play in the sand whenever we have the time to go to the beach. I want them to experience what I experienced as a child in terms of creating and building. For me, it helps build their character and is fun as well. I try to buy them all kinds of sand pails just like what my parents did for me. You might even be looking at a future Engineer or Architect. Enjoy the times when you can build your Castles in the Sand.

Before electric remote control cars came into the picture, there were mechanical cars for children. The pedal car is the most desired toy for children of all ages. The kid gets into the car, positions his feet on the pedals and rides along. It is a most exhilarating experience for young children. It gives them the feeling of freedom. Now, kid’s toy cars that are run electrically are available in the market but the pedalcar remains a favorite.

Pedal cars are among the safest toys for kids. The body of the car actually protects them in case they bump into a post or tree trunk. The cars are well balanced, avoiding problems of falling out. They can spend hours driving on the driveway or in a park together with other children. It is also a good way of exercising the leg muscles.

Early childhood is one of the most important stages in your child’s life. This period, between one and five years of age, is where a child’s body and brain grow and develop rapidly. To put it simply, kids soak up information like a sponge during this period of their lives. Early childhood development lays the foundation for future learning, so it is important that parents pay close attention to the child’s surroundings to ensure proper development.

Playing is one of the activities where children can learn physically and intellectually. Wooden outdoor play structures, for example, can help with developing a child’s motor skills. A child may crawl up and down the structure at first, and then he or she will start walking on it, and then running, and so on. Before you know it, the child could be dangling from one monkey bar to the other.

Get Kids Off the Couch

Kids are active creatures. Encourage them to get up from the couch and away from the television, computer or game console. Provide them with outdoor toys for kids that would appeal to their interests. For instance, a child who loves to climb on things inside the house would love an activity gym in the garden.

Choose toys that are age-appropriate by checking to see manufacturers’ recommendations as well as toy reviews from websites and parenting magazines. Ask your child too what his preferences are and make compromises as needed. If he can already make simple decisions, let him choose from different options instead of just buying something outright.

playscapes

January 29th, 2010

Get your kids excited about going outside to play. Don’t allow them to stay inside the house all day getting fat in front of the TV or their game consoles. Kids need physical activities to stay strong and healthy! Choose from a wide range of playscapes that you can place in your own backyard.

Having a good area for play is a great motivation to inspire kids to go outdoors. Make sure to supervise them, especially very young kids, to keep them safe. List down some ground rules they should follow to avoid getting hurt or having an accident. You can also encourage them to invite their friends over.

playground supplies

December 28th, 2009

Develop your child’s psychomotor skills through physical activities. Build a playground using playground supplies that are easy to install given the required ground area. You can buy stairs and slides made out of plastic or fiberglass that won’t rust even under extreme weather conditions.

There are also monkey bars that will hold even the weight of heavier children. The ground clearance will be just enough for kids’ heights. These are very safe even for toddlers. Choose from different play system designs available. For instance, if you have a child with special needs, you may want to consider installing a quad climber too aside from the standard stuff.

residential playground equipment

October 28th, 2009

Playing outdoors in the park can be fun and educational for children. They can play with old friends and meet new friends. But if your children play in the park, they will need somebody to watch over them. That is possible once or twice a week but a daily trip to the park can be a drain on your time. Your solution will be to set up a residential playground equipment right on your yard. You can be doing household chores and still have your eyes on them.

You have a wide variety to choose from but the big question is the size of you space and your budget. The type of model that you will choose will also depend on the age and capabilities of your child. If you have very small children, baby swings and bucket swings are available. For older children there are swings and monkey bars, slides and ladders. The important thing when choosing playground equipment is to make sure that they are safe. Look up the manufacturer’s safety record and check if they are willing to make regular safety checks.

wooden outdoor play structures

June 11th, 2009

I started going to school when I was five. It was a big school with a big playground. Among the numerous toys there, the wooden outdoors play structures were my favorite. They seemed so much fun and safe. I hit my head once by accident on the side and it did not hurt that much. I would play for hours on end. My classmates and I would come to school early just to play in those structures. It held some of my fondest memories as a kid.

I loved it when toys and play structures are made of wood. It looks so elegant and classic. It also emanates friendliness as compare to a cold metal. I love the feel of the wood even now. Playing in the wooden outdoor play structures when I was a kid really made me appreciate the beauty of wood as an adult. Unfortunately, nowadays most of the outdoor play structures I have seen are made of plastic. They are not so environmentally friendly but I assume they cost much less than wood.
