When it comes to family games, board games are one of the most popular. These are games that have pieces which placed, removed, or moved on a pre-marked board according to a set of rules. Board games can be based on pure strategy, chance or a mixture of the two. Back in the day, these games represented two armies at battle, and recent board games have retained the concept of beating one’s opponent.

My family and I love board games. Whenever we find the time, we’d sit down and spend the entire afternoon playing one board game after the other. We’d get carried away sometimes and have a little friendly competition, but it’s all in good fun. It’s a great way of spending time with my family, especially since we’ve had our own lives away from our parents.

Summer vacation is a suitable time for kids to get involved in new activities. Instead of getting bored or spending too much time with electronic gadgets, kids should be introduced to activities that will bring them outdoors. One idea is to help them start a garden. Let them help in digging up a plot and teach them how to plant a seed. They will have fun tending the plot by watering and clearing the space of weeds.

Gardening is a fun thing to do in the morning when it is pleasantly sunny. By starting early they should be able to finish with their chores when the sun turns harsh. They can all go back inside the house and play board games such as chutes and ladders, Mystery Garden, Chinese checkers or Domino. These are classic games that children love to play. They can also go online and play some of the new educational games.
